About the Author

Joyce Cleaver Leddy is Eva Soderberg (Cleaver)’s daughter. Joyce has spent eighty-three years visiting the Gunflint Trail. Today, Joyce’s two favorite things are still kayaking and snowshoeing. Although Joyce and her husband Tom have lived in California, Illinois, Texas, and France, they now make their home on Birch Lake and Grand Marais, Minnesota. Joyce worked for her church for many years, which led to writing and public speaking. She is an artist, and her paintings can be found in public and private collections.The Leddy’s two children, Tom and Erin, along with their two granddaughters, Reilly and Bryn, continue the Soderberg tradition in loving the Gunflint Trail and embracing the Minnesota wilderness.
